SHEA OIL
Climate change and natural resources degradation exacerbate existing gender inequalities and have a disproportionate impact on women and girls, because of the roles that they are assigned and the discrimination they face. WORUDET addresses structural gender inequalities caused by climate change and natural resource degradation, supports women and girls to strengthen their resilience and adaptive capacities vis-à-vis climate change and natural resources degradation, and promotes women’s and girls’ meaningful participation in the governance of climate change
adaptation and mitigation, disaster risk reduction as well as natural resources governance initiatives. In order to protect the environment and preserve indigenous trees while at the same time promote earnings for women and girls. WORUDET is advocating for preservation of shea oil trees and strengthening the capacity of women and girls in the community to add value to the products of shea oil through training and exposure to opportunities. WORUDET is also creating awareness about the benefits of shea trees and how it can be used to protect the environment. including planting shea trees. The organization is promoting marketing and linkages for women and girls to access markets for their products.
